The Indonesian Communion of Churches (PGI) on Monday called for Churches to utilize virtual platforms in celebrating the upcoming Christmas.
“We have conducted virtual prayers and other alternatives that do not create crowds amidst the pandemic,” said PGI secretary Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty on December 21.
According to Jacklevyn, PGI does not wish to see the efforts to curb the chain of Covid-19 infections go to waste over the desire to gather in person. However, the PGI reminds that even if physical attendances are needed, they shall be strictly under the Covid-19 health protocols.
“Avoid traveling and joining crowds of people in public areas in the celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s eve,” said Jacklevyn who urged people to continue supporting healthcare personnel that are fighting the pandemic.
“Commemorate the 2020 Christmas and 2021 New Year’s Eve with optimism and hope,” he said.
