Efforts to search for black boxes and victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane that crashed in the Thousand Islands are continuing. The Indonesian Navy’s elite troops made several dives when a black box signal was detected by technology on the Rigel 933 ship.
“For the position of the black box, at 11 o’clock on KRI Rigel, it is visible on the sonar detection radar monitor. There are indeed two positions marked, 1,000 meters in front of the bow of KRI Rigel, ”said Marine Colonel Johan Wahyudi, Dansatgas Kopaska, in an interview quoted from a Kompas TV broadcast, Sunday, January 10.
After this detection, the team of divers got ready. At around 15.00 WIB, the team received a pinger locator from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). The team first received a briefing on its use.
“We are heading to the determined position, in front of 1,000 meters, fitting the position we lowered (the diver). If the monitor screen is 1,000 meters away, there is nothing there. Going to the top of the second diver did not get anything, we are briefing, ”continued Johan.
After that the dive team was again deployed. The location of the dive is in the finding of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route.
“There is a signal, but all around us the sound of all the tap-tap because of the rainy cloudy weather and the limited visibility below we raise again (divers),” he continued.
At around 04.45 pm, local time, the divers also got back down. But the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 black box has not been found.
“Everything is around the same tick (sound signal). At 5.25 pm, we went up to the surface and moved closer to Rigel and headed to the post. We still could not get CVR and FDR, “said Johan.
The team then coordinated with the KRI operator. Rigel. According to the operator Johan, the position detected by the black box signal cannot be confirmed as the exact location of the black box.
“So this is only a presumed position but the area will not be far from there. If (the diver) gets off in the marked area, it may not be there, but in the area around it, we will look around that tomorrow, “said Johan.
