Yusril Ihza Mahendra apologized for the death of the cleric, Sheikh Ali Jaber. Yusril corrected the tweet via his Twitter account that previously said Sheikh Ali Jaber had died from COVID-19.
“I apologize for misunderstanding the cause of the death of Sheikh Ali Jaber. An explanation from the Chairperson of the Syekh Ali Jaber Foundation, Habib Abdurrahman Alhabsyi, stated that he died in a negative state of Covid. Thus, I have corrected the mistakes, ”said Yusril via his Twitter account @Yusrilihza_Mhd, Thursday, January 14 evening.
Yusril corrected the previous tweet at 10.47 am, local time on Thursday, January 14, 2021, regarding the condition of the cleric Sheikh Ali Jaber being exposed to COVID-19.
Sheikh Ali Jaber had indeed been exposed to the new coronavirus but was recently declared negative for COVID-19.
“Sheikh Ali Jaber, a cleric from Saudi Arabia who has become an Indonesian citizen, died of Covid-19 at Yarsi Hospital this morning at 8.38. We lost a scholar who preached coolly and peacefully. May Allah SWT accept his good deeds and forgive all his mistakes, ”said Yusril in an earlier tweet.
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa also expressed her deep condolences for the death of Sheikh Ali Jaber.
“I am on behalf of the people of East Java as well as on behalf of my family. I would like to express my deepest condolences and condolences for the death of Sheikh Ali Jaber,” said Khofifah in a written statement, Thursday, January 14.
To the families left behind, Khofifah prayed that they would always be given courage, patience, and sincerity.
Khofifah recalled the figure of Syekh Ali Jaber as a charismatic, generous scholar who cared deeply for people with disabilities.
“When I became Minister of Social Affairs, the late came to Salemba several times, to discuss people with disabilities, especially access to the digital Koran for people with visual disabilities,” he recalled.
In addition, continued Khofifah, Sheikh Ali Jaber was also endlessly trying to invite people to donate. The goal is to prepare a digital Al-Quran for the blind.
“Until before the COVID-19 pandemic, he also traveled around East Java, providing enlightenment and intelligence that always brought coolness,” said Khofifah.
Syekh Ali Jaber passed away at the Yarsi Cempaka Putih Hospital, Central Jakarta, at 08.30 am, local time.
Sheikh Ali Jaber was previously hospitalized due to being exposed to COVID-19. However, when he died, the deceased was declared to have a negative status for COVID-19.
