A mother accused having sex with her pet pit bull before hanging her two young children, will get a taxpayer-funded lawyer for her murder trial.
Lisa Snyder, 37, was granted a public defender at a court hearing in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on Thursday after a judge accepted she had no cash to pay for a lawyer herself.
Snyder – who is said to have molested the dog before hanging her eight-year-old son Conner and four-year-old daughter Brinley – faced questions over her finances.
Prosecutors highlighted the $23,000 car that she owned, despite the killer mom not having a job for the five years prior to her December 2019 arrest. They also highlighted questions over how Snyder supported herself and her children.
They had some contact with social services but were not being monitored when Conner and Brinley were found hanging from a dog leash at their home in September 2019.
Police reportedly found a photo of Snyder while having sex with her family’s pet pit bull.
She is later said to have complained about the pet biting her privates. Snyder reportedly used Conner’s Google account to search for information on death by hanging, and also looked up TV shows about how to get away with murder, it is claimed.
She denies the charges she faces and claims Conner killed himself because he was depressed about being bullied. The mom alleges that her eight-year-old son also killed his four-year-old sister because he did not want to die alone.
But investigators found no evidence of Conner being bullied, with his teachers describing the youngster as popular and well-adjusted. Earlier this year, detectives were said to be trying to download evidence from the Bluetooth system of Snyder’s car, after the Samsung Galaxy phone she was using around the time of her children’s deaths vanished.
Snyder is being held at Berks County Jail and is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing in November.
