The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that there is a peak of hope in the fight against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, even though global cases are approaching 20 million.
He also urged many countries to reduce the number of infections so that social life can resume.
On the other hand, Tedros also praised several European countries; English, and New Zealand for successfully taking appropriate action.
Tedros also conveyed that it was never too late to try.
Tedros added, in countries with high levels of transmission, this can be controlled through the application of all regulations.
The chain of transmission has been broken by a combination of rapid case identification, comprehensive contact tracing, adequate clinical care for patients, physical distance, wearing a mask, and regular hand hygiene.
Britain has recorded more than 1,000 new cases a day for the first time in June, while Germany and France also face alarming spikes.
Although there are British officials demanding reopening of schools in the fall, Tedros warned that countries should remain vigilant when doing so.
