There are various ways to find out our health condition, one of them is by the color of the nose or the mucus that comes out of the nose.
Sneezing actually functions to protect the nose from dust, bacteria and various harmful foreign objects from entering the area.
Sneezing can also indicate the condition of our health – whether healthy, have a fever, flu, allergies or other dangerous health problems.
- A clear mucus color
A clear mucus color indicates that your body is in good shape. Most of the mucus consists of water, protein, antibodies, and dissolved salts. The tissue in the nose also produces a cold every day and most of it flows down the back of the throat to dissolve in the stomach. - White
White mucus color indicates that we are experiencing shortness of breath. Swollen and inflamed tissue in the nose can slow down nasal flow. This occurs because the nose loses moisture until the resulting mucus becomes thick and changes color. - Yellow
Probably, the most common yellow cold we see and occurs frequently during the flu. It is also a sign that an infection is developing in our body.
When an infection occurs, immune cells including white blood cells move to the infected area. After the immunization cells feel ‘tired’ against infection, these cells will turn into mucosa and make the nostrils turn yellow. - Green
The green color indicates that our immune system is really fighting the infection. Normally, the nose will also become thicker because it mixes with dead white blood cells in addition to the remnants of other immune cells. - Pink or brown
Pink or brown mucus or a runny nose can indicate blood. Usually it occurs due to damage to the nasal tissue due to dry or injured nose. - Black
If you are not a smoker or drug user, black mucus or a runny nose is a sign of a serious bacterial infection.
This infection usually occurs in individuals with weakened immune systems.
