Pekanbaru Police arrested four perpetrators who were paying other people to pour hard water on residents for demonstration in Kampar Regency.
“In this case, a woman reported that she and her boyfriend were splashed with hard water on Jalan Tamtama, Labuh Baru, last Wednesday by four people,” said Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
He explained that the victims of the hard water sprinkling were two residents named Heggie (26) and Indah (26).
Both of them had wounds on their faces as a result of being splashed with hard water.
The four perpetrators were J. Sitorus (28), Elda Pardede (26), Trisurya (18), and Fajar G. (51). They were arrested at a hotel in Pekanbaru on January 18, 2021.
Nandang explained that the motive for the crime was allegedly due to the offense of a perpetrator with the initials RU.
RU felt resentment because the demonstration in Kampar Regency some time ago was disseminated on social media by the victim.
“The motive is being hurt towards the victim. The victim is neutralizing the perpetrators’ demonstration. Because this victim is neutralizing the act of the demonstration and that’s where the hurt arises,” he said.
According to him, RU is suspected of being the mastermind of the crime by paying the four perpetrators arrested IDR 8 million each to pour hard water on the victim.
The police are now detaining the perpetrators at the Police Headquarters and charged them with Article 355 paragraph (1) Jo. Article 353 paragraph (1) and 351 KUHP with a threat of 12 years.
