Head of the Regional Library and Archives Service (DPAD) of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency, Yulizal, asked schools not to transfer the library function to become the principal’s office or the teacher council’s office.
This was said when he handed over Books and Office Stationery (ATK) to the Subdistrict Library Service Unit (ULP), as well as a Decree (SK) on the Establishment of School Libraries and a Literacy Activist Award Charter.
Yulizal instructed the sub-district ULP that found a library building or building that was used as the principal’s office or teacher council, it should be suggested that it be moved or separated.
Then, to the Subdistrict ULP which is an extension of the DPAD’s arm to the sub-district and village levels so that they are not just stuck and stay in the office while on duty.
“We shouldn’t just wait for people to come to borrow books, but we have to be more pro-active in getting involved and participating in local government and community activities, while promoting and inviting people to come and seek knowledge, be it about cooking, business, religion, economic opportunities and so on in the books in the library, “added Yulizal.
Lastly, this former Head of PMD Inhil Office expressed his gratitude to the school, attorneys and literacy activists who have cared about the development and progress of the library.
“Let us join hands in building this library. We are ready to continue to provide guidance if needed,” he said.
