The increasing number of Covid-19 cases has made Indonesia becomes the country with the highest active cases in Asia, surpassing the previously highest number of active cases in India.
As information, active cases are the number of people who positive for Covid-19.
Based on Worldometer data on Sunday, January 31, 2021, the active cases in Indonesia totaled 175,095.
And its number becomes the largest in Asia and 15th in the world. Meanwhile, the total Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 1,078,314.
Active cases in Indonesia are higher than in India which currently has 169,654 cases.
The total number of cases was 10 times higher than Indonesia, namely 10,747,091 cases to be exact.
And here the list of country with the highest active cases in Asia :
- Iran with 150,949 cases out of 1,411,731 cases.
- Lebanon has 117,410 active cases with a total of 298,913 cases.
- Turkey has 89,627 active cases.
Positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia have continued to increase since January 2021. The number of new cases increasing every day has often exceeded 10 thousand, even reaching more than 14 thousand cases.
The Covid-19 Task Force said that the spread of the virus has continued to increase over the past 12 weeks, aka three months in a row.
Meanwhile, the government has implemented the Community Activity Restriction Enforcement (PPKM) which began in early January to reduce the rate of spread.
The implementation of the PPKM was then extended from January 25 to February 8, 2021.
