The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemlu) stated that there are 500 Indonesian citizens (WNI) who stayed in Myanmar. They work in several sectors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the official Twitter account, wrote on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, “The number of Indonesian citizens who are recorded as living in Myanmar is around 500 people. The majority of these Indonesian citizens work in the oil and gas sector, factories, garment industry, and ship crews,”
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Yangon stated that Indonesian citizens in Myanmar are healthy and safe, and made some appeals to Indonesian citizens (WNI) to remain calm, be alert and take the necessary steps
That statement issued by the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon on Monday, February 1, 2021.
“Stay calm and increase your vigilance and always pay close attention to developments in the security situation around the residence and minimize unnecessary activities outside the home,” read an excerpt from the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon also asked Indonesian citizens to prepare supplies of foodstuffs and other basic necessities, including endurance enhancing drugs and multivitamins for the next one to two weeks.
