The incident occurred at around 17.00 in Peat Village, Punggai, Pengerang.
The Kota Tinggi Police Chief said that the 17-year-old got to know a 30-year-old Bangladeshi man through the MiChat app.
The duo then decided to meet in real life at a supermarket in Bandar Penawar.
The teenager accompanies the man to get some household items.
However, he was later robbed by the side of the road around Kampung Gambut, reports Harian Metro.
In the incident, the teenager lost all cash and his cellphone.
In addition, he also suffered wounds on both hands as a result of being beaten by the suspect.
Many accounts on social media fabricate stories about teenagers being kidnapped and raped, but the police deny all of them.
An investigation is being carried out into this case under Section 394 of the Criminal Code.
The police are now looking for the suspect and the public.
