Indonesia’s Health Ministry has yet to roll out COVID-19 incentives for health workers in Bali since September 2020, prompting the governor to highlight the matter in a virtual meeting with the central government last week.
“Payment for health workers incentive in 2020 was only until August, and the rest has not yet been rolled out. For that matter, we hope there can be assistance,” Bali Governor Wayan Koster said at the meeting.
The distribution of COVID-19 incentives for health workers across Indonesia is in the purview of the Health Ministry.
“This is considering the increasing burden of the task and responsibility among the health workers, regarding the increasing number of positive cases,” Koster added.
According to the Balinese chapter of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), more than 190 doctors in Bali have been infected with the coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic, six of whom reportedly succumbed to the disease.
