Raja Ampat, meaning Four Kings, is an archipelago comprising islands Waigeo, Misool, Salawati, and Batanta, besides 1500 minor ones.
Located in the western part of Papua Island in Indonesia Part, Raja Ampat is one of Indonesia’s most famous attractions.
The culture in Raja Ampat society, as elsewhere, is a mix of indigenous cultures and the descendants of successive waves of migration from outside the area which began in ancient times and continues to this day.
The awe-inspiring backdrop of steep, forested islands, sizzling beaches, and marshy lagoons, small atolls looking like mushrooms, and shining turquoise water makes the place a perfect delight for travelers.
The area is rich in marine flora and fauna diversity including rare species of corals. That’s why Raja Ampat is one of the best tourist attractions in Indonesia.
When getting here, do be careful as you will have to pass several rivers and you might also have to climb some big slippery rocks. Other than that feel free to explore the area to your heart’s content and fully appreciate its magnificence.
The easiest way to get to Raja Ampat is to fly to Sorong via Jakarta, Makassar, Ambon, or Manado. For most of these connections, you can use Lion Air, Xpress Airlines, Sriwijaya Airlines, Nam Airlines or Garuda Indonesia airlines.
There are no direct international flights to West Papua Province.

2- From Kuala Lumpur to Makassar (UPG) to Sorong: Air Asia (a low-cost company) operates regular flight to Makassar (UPG) (Ujung Pandang). From Makassar (UPG) you can take a domestic flight to Sorong.
3- From Jakarta to Sorong (via Manado, Ambon, Makassar (UPG).
4-From Bali to Sorong (via Manado or Makassar UPG).
