The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Indragiri Hilir is back on routine patrols.
Not only curbing the traders selling on the road, but the Civil Service Police Unit personnel also reprimanded owners of building materials who had piled up their materials so that they blocked the road.
“On Arsyad Ahmad street in Tembilahan, the street vendors (PKL) and business signposts have been controlled. The patrol team led by Yondesmi also reprimanded owners of building materials using road bodies,” said the Head of the Civil Service Police Unit of Indragiri Hilir, Martha Haryadi.
She also said that as many as 36 of the Civil Service Police Unit personnel and 2 personnel from the Department of Transportation of Indragiri Hilir carried out sweeping along Jalan Arsyad Ahmad to Jalan Kartini.
“The left side of Jalan Kartini, which already has a sewer, is directed to street vendors to organize their selling places so they don’t sell on gutters, while street vendors on the right are directed back 1 meter because they don’t have a sewer,” she said.
At the time of the curbing, it was found that many street vendors were still standing and selling on top of drainage ditches and road bodies, thus disturbing traffic and the beauty of the city. The data found 30 street vendors who violated Perda 11 of 2016.
As explained by Martha, there is a need for large-scale socialization regarding controlling street vendors, especially in the Tembilahan sub-district and its surroundings.
“In addition, the patrol team’s existence needs to be improved by carrying out control at night, because at night there are still some street vendors who violate the rules,” she said.
