Land and forest fires (Karlahut) hit community land areas in Kempas District, the Regency of Indragiri Hilir, Riau.
Until now, the fire is still being extinguished.
In an effort to extinguish the fire, officers had to block various obstacles. In fact, police officers from the Indragiri Hilir Police Resort were forced to stay overnight.
This was revealed by the Chief of Indragiri Hilir Police, AKBP Dian Setyawan when talking with the media crew when contacted by cell phone on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
As the highest leader, AKBP Dian admitted that he did not sit idly by in his office.
He admitted that he always participated directly in extinguishing hotspots with members, both Polres personnel and from the Polsek ranks.
“From the start, there were forest and land fires in the Kempas area, I went to the location. We mustered all our strength,” he said.
According to him, the various obstacles faced requiring police sleep in community land areas.
On the community land, a police service tent was set up, which was not far from the location of the fire.
“It’s already the fourth night,” said AKBP Dian who admitted that he was in the lodging tent.
He said, staying overnight in the fire extinguishing forest would be faster, because access to the location was very far and difficult to reach.
He said, 141 personnel deployed jointly for fire fighting.
It is not certain how long the police will sleep on the peatland.
Even though it was difficult to put out the fire, the officers’ hard efforts paid off. The Indragiri Hilir Police Chief, AKBP Dian said most of the hotspots had been extinguished.
“Several hotspots have been extinguished, we will continue cooling,” he said.
