Indonesia has several botanical gardens scattered throughout the country, from the smallest to the largest.
One of the botanical gardens in Indonesia called Bedugul Botanical Garden.
Bali Botanic Garden is Indonesia’s largest Botanic Garden containing the island’s biggest collection of wild orchids and receiving over half a million visitors each year.
Nestled in the refreshingly cool, mountainous region of Bedugul in central Bali.
The sprawling, peaceful Garden is a mix of green, open space, landscaped gardens, unique plant collections, and remnant tropical forest set against the misty slopes of Tapak Hill.
Bedugul Botanical Garden has an area of 157 hectares. This botanical garden is located in Candikuning Village, Baturiti District, Bedugul, Bali, about 60 km from Denpasar City.
This garden which exists at an altitude of 1,250-1,400 meters above sea level was created in 1959.
The botanical garden has a collection of 16,000 plants with 1,500 species, 320 genera, 155 plant tribes.
Bali Botanical Garden is officially known as a Kebun Raya Eka Karya Bali. Eka Karya refers to this being the first Botanic Garden which has been established following Indonesian independence.
You can see many places of interest such as Orchid, Traditional Balinese House, Fern Park, Ceremonial Plants Collection, Medical Plants Collection, Tree Collection, Rose Park, Catus, and Hindu Temple.
Eka Karya management is carried out by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the organization structure is under the guidance of Bogor Botanical Gardens Conservation Center.
Bali Botanical Garden was originally established as a collection of species of conifers (nonflowering seeds plants or gymnosperms) from throughout the world and as a place for recreation.
