A 31-year-old South African national was found hanged at his room in Canggu, North Kuta.
It making this at least the third incident of suspected suicide reported in Bali in the last week.
North Kuta sub-precinct chief Marzel Doni said the victim, identified as HGW, was found on Wednesday morning by a friend who stayed in the room next door at the same guest house.
The friend opened HGW’s unlocked room and found him standing stiff with cloth wrapped around his neck.
Authorities were later called to the scene to evacuate the body, with Doni confirming that there were no signs of foul play on the victim’s body.
“There were different kinds of medicines inside the room. For now, we suspect the victim may have been depressed that he decided to commit suicide,” Doni said.
HGW is at least the third apparent suicide case reported in Bali this past week after a 15-year-old girl was believed to have committed suicide by overdosing on potassium on Sunday at her home in Buleleng regency, while a 52-year-old Japanese national was found hanged at his homestay in Denpasar.
