To reduce the stunting rate in Siak Regency, the Siak Regency Government through the Health Office is carrying out a Stunting Consultation at the Siak Regency level.
The activity was carried out in the Raja Indra Pahlawan Meeting Room, the Siak Regent’s office.
At the beginning of his speech, the Regent of Siak Alfedri explained that stunting is a chronic nutritional problem due to lack of nutritional intake in the long term, which results in disruption of growth in children.
“One thing to watch out for at this time, Siak Regency is in fifth place out of 12 districts and cities in terms of the number of stunting cases after Kuantan Sengingi, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, and Pelalawan with a percentage of 27.79 in 2019”, Alfedri said.
From the results of E-PPGBM data collection or community-based nutrition recording and reporting in the last February 2020 weighing month, from a total of 33,155 toddlers spread across 131 sub-districts and villages throughout Siak Regency, it was found that 945 toddlers were classified as very short and 2,284 toddlers relatively short.
So that, the total number of toddlers who fall into the very short and short category amounts to 3,229 toddlers.
“Of these, the highest number of children under five with stunting was in Kandis District with 721 children under five, followed by Siak District with 318 children under five, Koto Gasib 316 under five, Lubuk Dalam 299 under five, Sungai Apit 293 under five, Tualang 269 under five, Sungai Mandau 209 under five, Sabak. Auh 202 toddlers, Mempura 174 toddlers, Pusako 168 toddlers, Kerinci Kanan 100 toddlers, Bungaraya 62 toddlers, Minas 49 toddlers, and Dayun 49 toddlers “, he explained.
To reduce the stunting rate, the Siak Regency Government has carried out various efforts including through the Activity Program or Sub-Activities at OPD and Village / Village Governments prioritizing stunting focus locations in 2021 and 2022, in accordance with the Siak Regent Decree Number 287 / HK / KPTS / 2021.
“Other efforts are the provision of supplementary food (PMT) for pregnant women, toddlers, and school children, improving the quality of health facilities and infrastructure (construction/rehabilitation of hospitals, Puskesmas, Posyandu and procurement of medical devices), provision of calcium supplementation, tablets for add blood, vitamin A capsules, zinc for the treatment of diarrhea, worm medicine,” he said.
Furthermore, efforts to increase the supply of drinking water and sanitation. Increase access and quality of nutrition and health services, increase awareness, commitment, care, and nutrition practices of mothers and children, and increase access to nutritious food.
“With these efforts, we hope that the stunting rate in Siak Regency can be reduced and prevented”, hoped the Siak Regent.
In the Stunting Discussion at the Siak Regency level, the Siak Regency Government gave appreciation to 4 Zero Stunting Villages in 2020, namely Kemuning Muda Village, Bunga Raya District, Langsat Permai Village, Bunga Raya District, Pangkalan Makmur Village, Dayun District, Merangkai Village, Dayun District, and companies. -companies that have contributed to the reduction of stunting in Siak Regency, such as PT BSP, PT. RAPP, and PT. KTU.
