Agnez Mo will soon add creating and featuring in a graphic novel to her growing list of works in her career that has spanned almost three decades.
Agnez, who is one of Indonesia’s biggest musical exports to date, teamed up with Z2 Comics for a graphic novel titled Don’t Wake Up, inspired by her 2017 hit and music video, Long As I Get Paid.
The graphic novel is penned by Karla Pacheco, writer of Spider-Woman comics, with illustrations by Peter V. Nguyen and Andres Labrada, and described as “Catwoman meets The Sandman” and tells the story of “the heist of a lifetime.”
Agnez Mo’s look in the graphic novel seems to be directly lifted from the music video, featuring a batik-inspired bustier, headdress, and a traditional keris dagger.
The 34-year-old singer shares her excitement with her fans, especially after keeping the project a secret for more than a year.
Although there is no official date yet, Don’t Wake Up is reportedly set for release in November this year and you can pre-order the graphic novel from here.
Prices start from USD 19.99 for standard edition with paperback cover to USD 199.99 for the super deluxe edition — which consists of “oversized hardcover deluxe edition graphic novel” signed by Agnez and the creative team, graphic novel slipcase, four exclusive art prints, a bracelet, and an exclusive music component that will be announced later.
Z2 Comics is a US-based publisher specializing in “helping musicians tell their stories through graphic novels.” Prior to Don’t Wake Up, Z2 Comics has collaborated with the likes of US singer-songwriters Mitski and Poppy, as well as rock band The Doors, to name a few.
