Maintenance work for the Tembilahan-Simpang Kuala Saka road on the Beringin River, Tembilahan section has started on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
The maintenance of the Beringin River road section is carried out in the form of landfilling by the Regional Technical Implementation Unit IV (Four) of the Riau Province PUPR Office.
The Regional Technical Implementation Unit IV (Four) of the Public Works and Public Housing Office of Riau Province appeared to have dispatched two heavy equipment units for hoarding. Some of the roads were already covered with embankment material.
According to Lazi, who is acting as the supervisor of the landfill, the repair of the potholes along the Beringin River road is targeted to be completed within five days.
Currently, Lazi disclosed, his party is waiting for additional hoarding materials to be imported from the Merlung area, Jambi.
“Permit to dock the pontoon (material carrier vessel, red) is being taken care of,” he said at the landfill location.
Furthermore, Lazi explained, repairs or maintenance in the form of landfilling were carried out for points with badly damaged conditions along the Beringin River road.
“Emergency things take precedence. So, this repair is functional. For roads that are potholed, which are badly damaged after the stockpiling, they can return to normal function,” said Lazi.
A similar sentiment was conveyed by the Head of the Regional IV Technical Implementation Unit of the Riau Province Public Works and Housing Agency, Sanusi.
He confirmed that the maintenance work at the location point of Jalan Sungai Beringin was functional.
“So, this is for an emergency situation ahead of the improvement of the Tembilahan – Kuala Saka Simpang road section so that road access is not too difficult for the community,” said Sanusi via a cellular connection.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Regional Representative Council of Riau Province in charge of infrastructure, H. Dani M Nursalam, said that maintenance of the Tembilahan-Simpang Kuala Saka road section is currently being carried out in the form of hoarding.
“From what it appears, the Beringin River road segment which was previously in the community’s spotlight has been able to function properly, even though the temporary repairs are only functional,” said Dani.
To note, the improvement or reconstruction work on the Tembilahan-Simpang Kuala Saka road section has entered the document preparation stage. It is predicted that the road improvement or reconstruction work will begin after this year’s Eid al-Fitr.
