Caring for the victims of the flood disaster in Mandau River District, the Chairman of the Family Welfare Empowerment Team of Siak Regency Dra. Hj. Rasidah Abdulgani provided assistance with 22 basic food packages for residents who affected by the flood.
At that time, Rasidah, accompanied by the Empowering Family Welfare board of Siak district, the Head of Sungai Mandau and Penghulu sub-districts as well as the Head of the Empowering Family Welfare, Mandau River District visited the houses of residents who were affected by the flood in Muara Bungkal village.
At the residence of the resident, the wife of the Siak District Head handed over the groceries and cash to Usman Damanik and Hadi Sunaryo.
The assistance comes from donations from Empowering Family Welfare administrators and profits from sales in Dekranasda consisting of rice (from the Empowering Family Welfare of Sungai Mandau), sugar, oil, and eggs.
“Hopefully this assistance can be of benefit to the ladies and gentlemen and I hope that floods like this will not happen again,” said Rasidah.
He hopes that what he has done will motivate people who have excess assets, so that they feel compelled to help people who are hit by disaster.
Usman Damanik, a father of three who works as a farmer every day, is pleased to receive this assistance.
He also prays for all who provide assistance to stay healthy and cheap sustenance.
“Praise the Lord, thank you for your concern. Hopefully, all women will always be healthy and have cheap sustenance, ”said Usman Damanik.
He said that quite high rainfall inundated his house, and also caused his rice fields to be submerged.
Then the village road access was also cut, impassable due to inundation.
Meanwhile, the leader of Muara Bungkal Subiranto said that the heavy rains that poured down had flooded three hamlets in his area, approximately as many as 81 families.
“The depth of the flood reached 1 meter on Thursday last week. Praise the Lord, since Saturday until today there has been no rain, so the water has receded, “he explained.
So far, he continued, residents are still staying in their homes and no one wants to be evacuated, because some residents have livestock and some can still be used from their farms.
Subiranto hopes that the road access to the Lipai rice fields, which are inhabited by 36 families, can be repaired immediately.
Previously, the road was flooded and could not be passed by motorized vehicles.
As a result, residents use canoes if they want to leave their hamlet.
