Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno is campaigning for the Back to Movie Theaters and Watch National Films movement.

He invited families and the ministry’s employees to watch the restored national film Tjoet Nja ‘Dhien at Plaza Senayan Cinema XXI, Jakarta, on Sunday, May 30.

“Today, we celebrate again the best film by the nation’s children that have been restored in collaboration with international parties,” he wrote on his Instagram account on Sunday, May 30.

He emphasized that the government ensured to be present given hundreds of thousands of people earned their livelihoods from the film industry.

“We must come up with an impartial policy,” Sandiaga added. One of them is by granting a stimulus to support quality film production and elevate local wisdom, as well as the value of unity and diversity.

In a video uploaded on Monday, May 31, Sandiaga said the government did not turn a blind eye to the hard work of Indonesian film workers, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. “We will never give up fighting for the Indonesian film industry which has opened up so many jobs,” he wrote.

“We don’t want to give up the struggle of our film industry, as the values promoted by Tjoet Nja ‘Dhien who never gave up to the last drop of blood,” he remarked.

However, Sandiaga Uno underlined that the Back to Movie Theaters movement could only be done by complying with the predetermined health protocols.
