The regent of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency, HM Wardan, asked for functional repairs of the connecting rafters between Igal Village and Khairiah Mandah Village, Mandah District, which were heavily damaged.
Prior to carrying out the repairs, the Regent instructed the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Indragiri Hilir Regency to review the actual condition of the bridge which had been known to cause unrest for the residents there.
“The condition of the infrastructure is indeed a concern for the community when passing through it,” said the Regent commenting on the rafters, which were known to have been handled by the Riau Province Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
According to the Regent, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Indragiri Hilir Regency can build an emergency bridge for a while before the rafters are built permanently.
“If it is possible to follow up this year, at least semi-permanently, first build an emergency bridge so that it can be functional and can be passed by pedestrians and motorbikes,” said the Regent.
Meanwhile, the village head of Igal, Iskanda, asked people who use the 970 meter long and 3 meter wide bridge to be more careful when crossing.
“Of course, this is to anticipate the emergence of victims. We don’t want that to happen. Once again I hope that people can be more careful when crossing there,” he said.
The Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Indragiri Hilir Regency, Umar and the technical team are currently conducting an inventory and technical analysis in the field as a follow-up to the Regent’s instructions before carrying out functional repairs of the bridge.
