Located in Karang Tengah Village, Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, the lake is about 25 hectares wide. This lake is surrounded by two hills, namely Bukit Pangonan and Bukit Semurup which are actually called Summer Up because the hill soil is red and there are frequent fires, but there is mispronunciation by the local community.
The extent of this lake is the reason it was given the name “merdada”. “Merdada” refers to “breast”, which means broad.
In the period 1950 to 1998, the area around the lake was used by Dieng Jaya company as a mushroom nursery. But then, when there was an economic crisis, the nursery was closed. Today, there are still several buildings that were used as mushroom nurseries.
