Located in the tourist area of Suoh, Kalibata Hamlet, Sukamarga Village, Suoh District, West Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. This tourist spot is called Lake Suoh by the surrounding community. This lake can be reached via Sukabumi-Suoh (Batu Brak District), about five hours drive from the capital Liwa or via Sekincau.
In the Suoh Tourism Area, there are three lakes formed by the 1994 Liwa earthquake, namely Lake Suoh Width, Lake Minyak, and Lake Asam.
It is named Lake Asam because the taste of the water in this lake is sour. Meanwhile, Lake Minyak is called that because on the surface of the lake water looks like there is floating oil. However, because it is the largest of the two lakes, it is Lake Suoh that many tourists choose for a vacation.
The first location visited was Danau Lebar Suoh which had an area of 65 hectares.
Located not far from residential areas, it has clear water but when viewed from a distance it is deep blue.
Uniquely, in this lake, there is an island in the middle of the lake. The island, which the community calls Pulau Lebar, is full of trees.
To reach it, you have to pass through the residents ‘cocoa plantations on foot and leave the motorbike in the residents’ yard.
The trip to ride a motorbike was continued along a small path on the sidelines of the vast grasslands. Then arrived at a small hill that residents often use as a parking lot for visitors. Then proceed on foot until finally arriving at an area called Keramikan.
The vast silica desert of various thicknesses is immediately welcomed. Natural hot springs with pools of water are not far from the road that is traversed.
After that, the journey continues by passing through the forest and a small river with a depth of about 30 centimeters. The smell of sulfur is so strong. Because several natural gas bursts are often found on the right and left of the path that is traversed. After about 20-30 minutes of travel, arrived at a place that is endemic to the semar bag flower. The small river again welcomes the journey to Pasir Kuning.
Arriving at the expanse of Yellow Sand which is very wide and resembles the sand of the beach, you will find a sand dune that resembles a mountain child with white smoke in the middle.
Pasir Kuning is located on the shores of Danau Asam which covers 85 hectares and is the largest lake in Suoh. The journey continues by going back down the same road to the motorbike parking lot.
By riding a motorbike again, the journey continues to Lake Minyak which covers about 15 hectares. Lake Minyak itself by some people is often called a three-colored lake because the color of the water often changes. In Minyak Lake, you can also find hundreds of grouse birds who gather and swim here.
On the shores of the lake, where the water is sometimes oily, you can also find the Red Crater because of the bursts of natural gas gushing bright red water.
Currently, all the potential natural resources in Suoh District have not been managed and developed by the local government.
Unlike the usual tourist areas that are crowded with tourists, the Lake Suoh tourist spot looks deserted. The area is visited only on certain days and moments, such as New Year’s, and national holidays.
