The 1000 rupiah per day waqf’s program which was initiated by the Siak Regent Alfedri as well as the Chairman of the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) of Siak Regency last year, has produced results.
Currently, being built a place for ablution and a two-door shophouse next to the Darul Hadith Islamic Boarding Schoolhouse on Sapta Taruna Street, Rempak village, Siak City where the construction comes from the community waqf.
“We are grateful to the people of Siak Regency because the enthusiasm of the people for waqf, especially productive waqf is quite high,” said Regent Alfedri accompanied by Deputy Regent Husni Merza while reviewing the construction of shophouses.
He continued, this money waqf movement began in January 2020, by placing barrels in every office to collect the money.
He said, if the construction of this shophouse was completed, it could be used for business ventures such as mini markets, the proceeds of which could later be used for the management of the Darul Hadith Islamic Boarding School so that the Pompes became independent.
“We plan to build this shophouse in stages, for the shophouses that we are starting to work on now we will use them for business. If this business is successful, it will be able to support the economy of Islamic boarding schools,” he explained.
Besides that, he said, this Hadith Pompes is much sought after by the people of Siak Regency, but because the study space is limited so that student acceptance is limited.
This relatively new Pompes already has students who memorize 500 hadiths.
“We hope that in the future the support for waqf funds can be directed to other purposes. As currently, what needs to be built are study rooms, mosques, male and female dormitories, and arrow and riding fields,” he explained.
The chairman of the Sultan Yahya Abdul Rasyid Foundation, Rianto Pua-Pua, said that waqf assets can help the economic activities of an institution and even the state, whether it is used as a source of development capital or otherwise.
He thanked the people who had trusted the Indonesian Waqf Board of Siak Regency, as a waqf distribution institution for the benefit of the people.
“We are grateful, the concern of the people of Siak is very high for productive waqf,” he said.
