So sad, as too many lives lost to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government of Indonesia held a moment of silence on Saturday, July 10, 2021, to remember all the victims.
The one-minute silence took place at 10.07 a.m. local time.
Religious Affairs Minister of Indonesia, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas hoped the minute’s silence could strengthen solidarity during these challenging times.
He also called people to pray for the safety of the Indonesian people amidst the pandemic.
The public communication coordinator at Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPCPEN), Arya Sinulingga, said that the moment of silence is not simply a form of expressing grief for the deaths of our loved ones, but it also reflects the solidarity of everyone in society amid this health crisis.
E-commerce Lazada also echoed the call to hold a moment of silence for the Covid-19 victims.
As of Saturday, the Covid-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of 65,457 people in Indonesia.
