Indonesia also has a lot of cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic diversity. Every region in Indonesia has its own story with beauty and uniqueness. Indonesia’s sea and land have formed a beauty that is rarely possessed by other countries.
One of the beauty and uniqueness of Indonesia, when compared to other countries, is that Indonesia has some unique villages that are very thick in culture and very tempting to visit.
Some of them are the Wae Rebo Village in Flores and the Baduy Village in Banten.
Those villages are two of the many unique villages in Indonesia. Most villages in Indonesia still retain cultural values and reject the technology that has changed everything now, and still maintain their traditional style.
In Banten Province – Java Island, there is a unique village that is very thick in traditional culture. This village is inhabited by the Baduy Tribe and it is called the Baduy Village.
The Baduy Tribe are a traditional Sundanese ethnic group that lives in the province of Banten, a few hours outside of Jakarta. The Baduy Tribe does not use modern technology.
Moreover, the Baduy Village is divided into two which are the Badui Luar (Outer Baduy) and the Badui Dalam (Inner Baduy).
There are 22 villages that are considered a part of Baduy Luar. The communities that form Baduy Luar form a barrier to the outside world for the 40 families who live in the area known as Baduy Dalam.
Baduy Dalam is split into the three villages of Cibeo, Cikertawana and Cikeusik. The people who live in these villages have limited contact with the outside world and do not use any modern technology.
For those of you who want to come to this village can directly go to Ciboleger Village which is the entrance to the Baduy Tribe settlement. To reach those places, the only mode of transportation for visitors is walking.

From the Ciboleger Village, you have to trek to the Baduy Luar (Outer Baduy) and Baduy Dalam (Inner Baduy) settlements for about five hours. The journey is indeed tiring, but along the way, you can enjoy the cool air and the enchanting hills.
The nearest village to Ciboleger is Kadu Ketuk village. It took around 45 minutes trekking from Ciboleger to Kadu Ketuk village.
Arriving in the Baduy settlement, you can see their houses made of bamboo and neatly arranged. The river that flows in this settlement is also very clear because the Baduy people really appreciate nature. Of the several river spots, they use only one for daily life. Meanwhile, another river can be enjoyed by the surrounding community and tourists who come.
The forest is also well preserved because the Baduy people always maintain cleanliness and don’t do activities that can ruin the forest.
The Baduy tribe holds their traditions in high regard, so visitors are expected to do the same. There are a number of rules you must obey in Baduy Dalam.
Visitors must not take pictures or record videos in Baduy Dalam. They are also prohibited from using soap, shampoo, or toothpaste when bathing in the river. And, there is a strict ban on littering. Visitors must bring their trash back home.
Visitors are expected to respect and observe the rules, as well as the Baduy tribe’s local wisdom.
The Baduy tribe deeply respects nature. Thus, please respect their rule on littering. Do not clog the village with garbage. Visitors are expected to take care of their trash and bring it home with them.
