The island of Lembeh is famous for its muck diving sites but is also beautiful above water.
Lembeh Island is located just across the narrow Lembeh Strait from the busy port town of Bitung. In the last couple of decades, this pretty tropical island has earned itself a reputation as one of the best muck diving locations in the world; attracting divers, marine biologists, and underwater photographers from all over the world.
Pasir Putih translates simply to ‘White Sand’ and it is exactly that. Soft white sand backed by shady trees and gentle waves makes this beach a wonderful place to spend a day.
Snorkel off the beach or explore the rocky outcrops if you get tired of lying on the sand with a book.
The Lembeh Strait has over 40 dive sites teeming with colorful and some downright bizarre critters such as nudibranchs, devilfish, pygmy seahorses, mandarin fish, hairy frogfish, Bobbit worms, Pegasus sea moths, ghost pipefish, and the endemic Banggai cardinalfish.
Outside the Strait, Lembeh also has some really worthwhile soft and hard coral gardens on pinnacles and steep walls and several WWII dive wrecks.
