On August 5, a teenager in Kuantan was scammed by a girl he met on Facebook.
As a result of the fraud, he almost spent his father’s money in the amount of RM300,000.
The teenage father is a businessman.
It was reported by Bernama that the 14 year old boy first met a girl on Facebook named Anis.
He admitted to selling smartphones at low prices, so the teenager contacted him.
The two of them then got closer, began to send messages to each other on Whatsapp and started playing PUBG together.
After several months, Anis asked the teenager to lend him some money.
Then in May, the teenager made his first transaction.
This continues today.
He also made a total of 21 transactions with a value of RM295,950.
The businessman only realized what happened in July.
The father asked his son about it and asked him to returned the money.
However, when the teenager charged the girl he knew. Instead, the girl stopped responding.
The businessman then went to the Cameron Highlands police station to file a report.
He believes that her son has been the victim of scammed by the ‘love scam’ syndicate.
According to scamalert.sg, a love scam occurs after making friends with interesting people online.
Right now, the the Cameron Highlands police try to analyse and process this report.
This case is also one forms of cyber crime. Many people right now are not really aware to this type of crime.
Especially to those who can not life without their gadget or internet.
Indeed, most of the activity need internet right now, moreover in this pandemic season.
