Until now, China has nearly 85,000 cases and over 4600 deaths related to the Covid-19 case, but close to 80,000 have recovered.
But a sad story comes from a China woman who has recovered from COVID-19 five months ago.
Now, she is tested positive again, after the 68-year-old woman had been discharged from the hospital. Media reports said she tested positive on August 9. The woman is in quarantine, and close relatives have tested negative as per reports.
This case becomes a concern for health officials and experts in China.
As cited from India Today, the woman tested positive at a hospital in Jingzhou, Hubei province. She had been declared completely recovered as early as February.
A virologist told Global Times that such instances were very rare and those testing positive again are not infectious.
“The case indicates that it will take a long time to completely eliminate coronavirus from the human body, and the density of the virus inside this specific patient’s body was low, which may explain why she had tested negative,” Yang Zhanqiu, Deputy Director of Wuhan University’s pathogen biology department, told.
