Facebook will begin labeling all US posts about voting to send users authoritative information about the election
Starting Thursday, US Facebook users who post about the vote may start seeing additions to their messages.
The label directs readers to authoritative information about the upcoming presidential election.
This is the social network’s latest move to combat election-related misinformation.
As elections to be held on November 3 draw near, many voters may be sending ballots by post for the first time.
Facebook began adding similar links to posts about voting in person and by mail by federal politicians, including President Donald Trump, in July.
The label will link to a new voter information center similar to COVID-19 which Facebook says has been seen by billions of users around the world.
The label will read, “Visit the Voting Information Center for election resources and official updates.”
