A Chinese official lashed out at US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar for visiting Taiwan amid the pandemic.
He also accused him of placing politics above the lives of the American people.
The comments came a day after Azar accused China of failing to warn the rest of the world about the coronavirus.
Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, “We don’t know how he has the confidence and courage to shamelessly criticize China’s anti-epidemic achievements.”
Azar’s trip to Taiwan has angered China by seeing the self-governing island part of its territory.
