Virtually, the Governor of Riau, Syamsuar, inaugurated 7 Electric Villages in Indragiri Hilir in 2020, through a Video Conference, Sunday, August 16, 2020.
The total number of villages in Indragiri Hilir Regency is 236 villages. Until 2019, there were 217 villages. For 2020, from January to July there were 4 villages that have been lighted up, then 18 villages have been lit from January to August 2020.
There are 8 villages with electricity until August 2020. Thus, the ratio of electrified villages in Indragiri Hilir reaches 97 percent, while the electrification ratio is 85.29 percent.
The electric village, which was inaugurated by the Governor in 2020, is in Tanjung Pasir Village, Tanah Merah District, Sari Mulia Village, Kateman District, Pulau Cawan Village, Mandah District.
Air Tawar Village, Kateman District, Sungai Laut Village, Tanah Merah District, Sungai Bela Village, Kuala Indragiri District, and Sungai Buluh Village, Kuala Indragiri District.
The Regent of Indragiri Hilir, HM Wardan, was grateful for the inauguration of the Electric Village. He said that he was ready to support the PT PLN Persero program.
“We, from the Indragiri Hilir Regency Government, together with the community, are certainly ready to support and assist the program of PT PLN Persero, which has targeted that by the end of 2020 all villages have electricity,” said the Regent.
The Regent said, there were several villages that had poles installed, but they could not yet be supplied with electricity due to the problem of community coconut trees which were feared to be dangerous, so that people were reluctant to donate the coconut trees.
“This is we are helping PLN to negotiate with the community, together with the Village Head, Community Leaders, and the Head of Sub-District so that this will not cause any more problems in Indragiri Hilir Regency,” he concluded.
