In a tragic incident at Masjid Toronto on Adelaide Street, the windows of a mosque were smashed. The latest attack happened on August 16, 2020. From the investigation known that the attacks have involved break-in attempts and broken windows.
According to the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), they say it was the sixth act of vandalism in three months targeting the city’s Islamic houses of worship.
MAC condemns these acts of hate that threaten the safety of our community and they cannot accept to wait any longer for police action.
As information, Masjid Toronto has been vandalized three times in the last three months. But, from the information of MAC, they told that police arrested a suspect in that attack and determined it as mischief. As information, MAC has two locations in the city’s downtown area.
As quoted News24xx.com from CNN, Toronto police told that they were aware of several reports of damage and mischief since June 1, 2020.
Toronto police said they held six investigations about the incidents, and as a result, two arrests had been made.
Related for that case, Toronto Mayor John Tory condemned the acts of vandalism. And Mr. Tory also called for anyone with information to contact the police.
