From the data of WHO, India became the third-highest country with the case of coronavirus around the world, after the United States and Brazil.
The government of India reported on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at least 10,339 new cases and 912 deaths, and bringing the total to 3,044,940.
Health authorities of India reported that the coronavirus cases have gone past three million. And the infections move through impoverished rural areas in the north and the wealthier but older populations of the south.
And that conditions, make the country leading the world in new as the disease with surveys showing widespread prevalence in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Elizabeth Puranam, reporting that new infections continue to spring up in rural areas of the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states in India’s north, and in the southern states of Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
“From our survey shown that the virus moved from the metropolitan areas like Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai to more rural areas. It was horrifying because India has very poor healthcare systems and not all parts of this country have the best healthcare infrastructure.”

Rajib Dasgupta, the heads the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University told as quoted from Aljazeera, ” India has very poor healthcare systems, so as the solutions, we need to to be augmented a lot more of infrastructure resources. So that people come to get tested. And also, for containing the virus spreading is to make people practice preventative behavior such as wearing masks and social distancing in the public.”
As information, the western state of Maharashtra in India is the worst-hit in India with 671,942 cases and 21,995 death. And with nearly 600 million Indians live in rural areas, health experts worry that hospitals could be overwhelmed after the virus spreading fast across India’s vast hinterlands.
