Egypt’s Ministry of Health admitted Mohamed to a Cairo hospital for treatment after he was paralyzed in an incident that trended on social media.
Mohamed is a student at a winter prep school and a summer worker at a bakery.
The shop is located in the village of Salwa in Aswan province, about 900 km south of Cairo.
The tragedy began when a 35-year-old bakery worker threw it into the dough mixer machine, then pressed the start button.
When workers heard Mohamed’s cry for help, they pulled him out of the machine.
Mohammed was found unconscious.
Other workers took him straight to the Kom Ombo Hospital.
Then he went to the Aswan University Hospital because of his critical condition.
The hospital’s medical report stated Mohamed suffered from injuries to the spinal cord, a sixth and seventh neck fracture, a broken rib, a broken shoulder blade, and a broken finger.
Abdullah said: “We want Mohamed to be right through a fair trial, especially after we find out that the perpetrator is trying to escape punishment by claiming that he has a mental illness.”
He added that the perpetrator had also pressured the victim’s mother to say that the injuries were accidental.
According to the Egyptian Children’s Law, it is not allowed to employ children before they reach the age of 16.
