A 20-year-old woman, who has been pronounced dead, was found living in a funeral home in Michigan, United States when she was about to be embalmed.
Timesha Beauchamp’s family contacted the authorities when they found her body unresponsive at their home on Sunday (23 Aug) last morning.
This was reported by ABC affiliate media, WXYZ, as reported by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Wednesday (August 26, 2020).
The head of the Southfield Fire Department said the young woman was not breathing when they arrived.
After about 30 minutes of CPR and other standard attempts to bring Beauchamp back to life, paramedics determined he was dead.
The fire chief also said in a statement that there was no evidence of the violation.
Beauchamp’s body was then taken to James H. Cole’s funeral home.
However, the staff discovered that the young woman was still alive because they saw her eyes open after unzipping the body bag.
The Southfield city government said it was currently under a “thorough internal investigation”
The Oakland County Medical Control Authority will report its findings to the Michigan State Bureau of EMS, Trauma, and Preparedness.
