The Turkish government strongly condemns the tearing and spitting of the Koran in Norway.
Turkey asked that such actions should be prevented.
Reporting from the Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency, Monday (31 August 2020), the Turkish government assessed that the action did not respect the Muslim holy book, the Koran.
The action was organized by anti-Islam groups in Norway.
At an anti-Islam protest Saturday (August 29) in Oslo, the Norwegian capital organized by the right-wing group Stop Islamization of Norway (SIAN), a protester tore up pages of the Koran and spat on it.
In a statement, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) said they hoped such actions could be prevented.
The Turkish Ministry also asked European politicians and authorities to take this issue seriously and make efforts in this regard.
Turkey’s foreign ministry said action against the Muslim holy book had increased in recent years in Scandinavian countries.
In fact, these countries claim that they lead in a system of democracy, human rights and rule of law.
