Unexpectedly, it turns out that 393 elementary and junior high school teachers in Surabaya have tested positive for COVID-19.
This amount is 13 percent of the total number of teachers who tested for swab.
Head of BPB Linmas for Surabaya City, Irvan Widyanto, said that up to now there are 3,882 elementary to junior high school teachers who have been tested for swab by the Surabaya City Government.
As a result, hundreds of teachers tested positive for COVID-19.
Irvan also added that until now, swab tests for elementary and junior high school teachers were still being conducted.
Of the total SD and SMP teachers who are currently Work From Home (WFH), only 40 percent have undergone the swab test.
The Surabaya City Government continues to carry out swab tests on elementary and junior high school teachers to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
For this reason, the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, issued a circular asking teachers to work from home.
From the previous test, there were 3,127 specimens. A total of 137 teachers tested positive for COVID-19 and 4 people died because of comorbidities.
