With the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, Nvidia can be modified to resemble the mid-range PC gaming scene. By performing at $ 499 (£ 469, AU around $ 680), Nvidia claims to be better than the $ 1,199 RTX 2080 Ti (£ 1,099, AU $ 1,899) – although that’s not yet clear.
This graphics card will hit the road sometime in October, so obviously we couldn’t test it ourselves. We’re not going to ask you to jump into pre-order yet, but if all of Nvidia’s claims are true, whether it’s about initial graphics performance or IO performance progress, it’s PS5 and Xbox Shopping would be better than. The X Series, especially if you already have a gaming PC.
The price-to-performance conversation obviously changes a little if you have to build a new PC, but even so, PC games always carry a high cost.
Despite all the glamor and circumstance that was Nvidia GeForce Special event earlier today, Nvidia has quietly released the full specifications of the three cards announced today. In addition to the fact that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is limited to just 8GB of VRAM, the talk packs 5,888 CUDA cores with a boost clock of 1.88GHz. According to the mathematics of napkins, this accounts for about 20.3 TFLOPs of graphics performance, topping 12TFLOPs from the Xbox Series X, 10.5TFLOPs from the PS5, and even 13TFLOPs from the previous generation RTX 2080 Ti.
Now, again, I haven’t had the opportunity to test this in actual benchmarks, so I can’t say what it would look like in a real gaming workload, but it definitely won’t be slower than the RTX2080 Ti. And, at less than half the price, Nvidia now has some pretty impressive price-to-performance advantages.
So, the RTX 3070 will be more capable of delivering 4K gaming performance that none of the sacrifices the console will make – such as selection panel display, low detail settings, and loss of anti-aliasing – and if you already have a drill rig and looking to upgrade it, it’s roughly the same price. Rumors now indicate that the PS5 falls in the $ 499 (£ 449; AU $ 749) range, which is actually the cost of the RTX 3070, you only get it first, and it runs RTX. 4K games with On could be better.
