South Korean technology giant Samsung has struck a deal with US airline Verizon to supply network equipment, the company revealed publicly on Monday.
The company said the wireless communication solution contract between Samsung Electronics America and Verizon Sourcing LLC has been valued at 7.9 trillion won, or about 6.6 billion won.
The deal size equaled 3.43% of Samsung Electronics’ 230 trillion won 2019 full-year sales. The contract will end on December 31, 2025.

The Samsung network business was one of the first to supply 5G network equipment to South Korean telecommunications companies, when it commercialized its 5G network in 2019.
The confirmed deal is likely to be Samsung Network’s largest contract ever and even larger than the company’s annual sales, which South Korean analysts won at around 4 to 5 trillion.
However, sources inside the company told ZDNet that Samsung network sales in 2020 have slowed compared to 2019 due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, but the company is aiming for a change starting in 2021.
Samsung is a founding member of the Open Rann Policy Alliance, a group widely regarded as the “anti-Huawei” alliance.
