Residents of Legok Kidul Village, Paseh District, Sumedang Regency, West Java have succeeded in turning plastic waste into fuel oil for stoves.
Through cold hands, a number of trash residents who previously only became pollution are now more useful and have economic value.
The Head of the Legok Kidul Village Waste Management Team Iwan Kustiawan said, to produce oil, his party first sorts the waste.
Plastic waste is collected and then put into processing equipment.
“In addition to producing oil, recycled waste is cleaned and sold to collectors who usually collect collapsed goods,” said Iwan, when met at the Legok Kidul Village Office, Tuesday (8 September 2020).
To use this fuel from waste, the village government prepares a tool that has been designed with makeshift materials.
Starting from used bottles to hoses that are shaped like gas stove hoses.
After all the tools and materials have been prepared, then the stove made from oil from waste can be turned on like a gas stove in general.
It’s just that, the duration of a fire from this fuel cannot last long, so more oil is needed from this waste so that the burning fire does not die quickly.
“We are trusted by the village government as a waste management team to process it through refining so that the results of the cementation produce oil as fuel,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Village Head of Legok Kidul Iswanto said that the process of producing oil from this waste is not easy.
However, thanks to the tenacity and diligence of the waste management team at Legok Kidul Village, finally the waste that was deemed useless could benefit the residents.
Iswanto said that waste management and processing in the village area of Logok Kidul has been going on for a long time.
By utilizing appropriate technology, it can eventually create new innovations by producing oil from processed waste.
“Alhamdulillah, we are able to produce products that have economic value, including the result of processed waste is oil that can be used as stove fuel,” said Iswanto when met at the Legok Kidul Village Office, Tuesday (8 September 2020).
