For the first time, the government of China is holding a special event to recognise to doctors in the fight against the coronavirus..
And also China’s president Xi Jinping has told that the country had acted in an open and transparent.
At that special event, Zhong Nanshan, one of China’s respiratory disease expert, awarded the Medal of the Republic, a China’s top honour by the president.
Zhong got the awarded because he becomes the first doctor who went to Wuhan in January 2020 to investigate the mysterious new virus that had emerged at the end of December.
Zhong was among a group of specialists. In his acceptance speech, he told, “We must must finish the battle with coronavirus. And we can not to lower our guard.”
In past, the government of China came down hard on doctors in the city after they tried to raise the alarm over the disease.
One of the doctors is Li Wenliang, an eye doctor in a hospital in Wuhan. He was reprimanded by the authorities for raising his concerns about the new illness with colleagues. But tragic, Li was death in August 2020 after battle with coronavirus.
From data of Johns Hopkins University, more than 27.3 million cases of coronavirus confirmed around the world and 892,443 people have died. At least 18.3 million people have recovered.
