Social gatherings of more than six people will be illegal in the UK from Monday, with a few exceptions.
The amendment to the law will prohibit larger group gatherings indoors or outdoors.
But that won’t apply in schools, workplaces, or COVID-secure weddings, funerals, and organized team sports.
This will be imposed through a £ 100 fine if the person fails to comply, doubling on each offense up to a maximum of £ 3,200.
The new rules mark a change to current UK guidelines.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will provide more details on the changes at a press conference in Downing Street at 4:00 pm BST on Wednesday, along with senior advisers Prof. Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance.
