A large fire was reported in the port of Beirut, creating black smoke in the sky over the Lebanese capital.
This fire occurred a month after a great explosion at the port.
“The fires were reported after the tires and the oil warehouse caught fire,” said a Lebanese military source who spoke on condition of anonymity, as reported by Al Arabiya on Thursday (September 1, 2020).
However, the port director said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire.
Local media reported that firefighters had been deployed to the scene to tame the Red Rooster.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese military also stepped in to deal with the fire.
Reports from local television showed a helicopter flying into the area, a container of water slung underneath.
Several people have reported shortness of breath as a cloud of smoke rose above the harbor.
