Amidst a large number of followers and opponents in the government, Indonesia’s first President Soekarno still had close friends.
He is also among those who often jokes with his friends. J
One of Soekarno’s close friends was the Prime Minister of Cuba, Fidel Castro.
The two met when Soerkarno visited Havana, the capital of Cuba on May 9, 1960.
At that time Castro was serving Bung Karno cigars.
“This is the original production of our country. Tobacco and sugar make the colonial country always target us,” said Castro.
Bung Karno also talked about Indonesia’s strengths so that it could be the target of other countries.
“Since ancient times Indonesia has always been targeted by colonizers, because we are the leading spice producer in the world,” said Bung Karno.
After enjoying a cigar together with Castro, Bung Karno took out a cigarette made in England.
The brands Player and Soekarno really liked the cigarette.
Seeing the cigarette, Castro was a little surprised.
“Isn’t this a cigarette made by the imperialists?” asked Castro.
“Yes! The imperialists and capitalists must be sucked into smoke and dust !!!!!!!” Bung Karno said.
The two of them then burst out laughing.
Not only that, on another occasion Bung Karno joked with Fidel Castro again.
“You know sir, this is what unites Indonesia,” said Bung Karno, showing his cap.
Not wanting to lose, Castro, he also took out a pet hat with a star image.
“Your Excellency President Soekarno, this is what made Batista crawl out of the palace and beaten on the butt by the Americans,” said Castro.
After the conversation, Fidel Castro looked at Soekarno’s stick. Then asked why Soekarno brought the stick?
“If you hold this genie will come out,” said Bung Karno, stroking his cane like an Aladdin lamp.
The two of them then burst out laughing. But Castro still stroked the stick out of curiosity.
But nothing happened.
