The unfortunate fate occurred to a 19 year old girl in Kerala, India.
On her way to the hospital for Covid-19 treatment, she was raped by the ambulance driver who escorted her.
The incident occurred when the ambulance driver, 25-year-old Noufal V, was carrying two Covid-19 patients.
The first patient was 19 years old and an elderly woman.
He had taken the old woman to the hospital before he took the victim to a remote place near Aranmula Airport and raped her.
According to The Times of India, he dropped her off at a Covid-19 treatment center after raping her.
Based on the police report, the victim underwent quarantine at the house of a relative in Pandalam before testing positive for the corona virus.
However, she was forced to go to the hospital for treatment.
The driver was arrested a day later.
Kerala’s Health Minister, KK Shailaja has expressed shock at the incident and ordered that the driver be removed from his position.
Meanwhile, the Kerala Women’s National Commission (NCW) asked that the investigation be expedited.
