After closed since March 17, 2020, the 17th-century architectural marvel in India ie Taj Mahal, shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But now, the Taj (the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal) was re-opening from September 21, 2020.
For years, the Taj Mahal premises being packed with tourists, but now visiting the monument in the post-COVID-19 world is going to be an experience in itself.
Many people jostling for a chance to get a picture on the bench where many world leaders posed. One person can be in the same frame, but they should have a distance of 6 feet.
Nowadays, only 5,000 visitors would be permitted at the Taj Mahal and only 2,500 would be allowed at Agra Fort. But, the tourist should keep distance and wearing masks, and the tourists will be allowed to enter in shifts at the monument.
AN Gupta, conservation assistant, ASI at Taj Mahal told HT that the visitors can scan the code to purchase tickets or book online through the mobile app.
Gupta said, “Not more than five visitors will be allowed. All would go through thermal check and they would be provided with a sanitizer.”
The government of India also reopening the Taj and other monuments, such as New Delhi’s historic Red Fort, just as India’s coronavirus infections are rising at the fastest pace in three months.
