Criminal Investigation Unit of the District Police of Indragiri Hilir succeeds in thwarted the smuggle hundreds of bottles of liquor from various brands in the Tembilahan Hulu area of the Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020.
“The disclosure of this case began when our members received reports from the public about a ship with the initials NJ carrying the liquor was leaning at the Port of Parit 6 Tembilahan Hulu. And after being searched, our member found hundreds of bottles of liquor,” said Inhil Police ChiefAKBP Dian Setyawan.
The illegal drinks along with the ship were then confiscated and taken to the Inhil Police Headquarters with a ship captain, namely IS (37 years old).
“The liquor from various brands was found on the deck of the ship without valid documents. According to the captain’s admission, the liquor came from Singapore,” he said.
Until now, his party is still asking for information from the captain regarding the possession of hundreds of liquor bottles.
“During the pandemic, people should stay away from activities that could trigger criminal acts. As we know, the perpetrators of a few cases of crime were influenced by alcohol.”
